12 Books That Will Change Your Life

Reading is one of the easiest ways to change your life! And while we are so lucky to have endless access to growth-inspiring literature, the choices can also be overwhelming. 

If you want to read more, but aren’t sure where to start - this list is the perfect jumping off point. 

I’ve curated a list of the best personal development books based on what I use personally and in my coaching practice*This list contains affiliate links!

I’ve also broken the list down for you, into subcategories based on where you want to point your focus first. 

This list includes 12 books on purpose - it’s the perfect way to break down your reading list for the year, aim for one book a month. 

If you’re just starting your reading practice, this is a great time to set some habits to make your learning as effective as possible. Here’s Bill Gate’s 4 Rules for how to read a book:

  1. Don’t start a book that you will not finish

  2. Take notes to make sure you are absorbing new knowledge, make sure you are concentrating.

  3. Read what is comfortable with you whether print or digital books.

  4. Read for at least one hour every day

All of these rules might not fit into your life right now, and that’s okay! But I would recommend you pick just one, and try it out for a while. Do you find you absorb more if you’re taking notes? If you set a certain reading time for the day do you follow through more? Use these rules in your own way, and see how you can make them work for you.
